I am taking a job in Basking Ridge, NJ. I am wondering what is the best town (within 25ish minutes commute) for a young family.

I am looking for good school district, family friendly, big house in the 500,000 range.

Thanks!

First I'd look into Basking Ridge....top notch schools, and a wonderful place to raise a family. When looking at homes be sure to look for homes within all of Bernards Twp (BR is just on section of the Township) you should be able to find a nice home in your price range.

I'd also check out Mendham Borough (even Mendham Twp, though the number of houses <500k will be limited) as well as the southern/western part of Chatham. If you need to look further, check out Long Hill Twp and Berkeley Hts, though depending on exact location of the home and office, you will be pushing your commute time limit.

If you have other criteria/wants please advise and we can offer more suggestions. See //www.city-data.com/forum/new-j...residents.html in general, the more info you provide the better we can tailor our suggestions to meet what you are looking for.

Also please define "big house" If you are seeking a mansion, or even a McMansion, you will not find one in NNJ under 500k and less than a 30 minute commute to BR.
