I am looking for a good town to go out in in Union County (or surrounding area, like Millburn etc). We would like to get dinner and stay out at a bar until sometime after midnight. I have tried Summit before, but the place seems to shut down at midnight. Are there any other towns in the area that allow alcohol sales past midnight?

Thanks

Rahway, it's downtown and Arts District has some pretty good places lately, not kidding.

Interesting, thanks for the suggestion. Looking at a map, it looks like there are a bunch of restaurants in the "Arts" district as well as down by the train station. Are both of these locations good/safe?

You could try Colorado Cafe just off route 22. Its a country music themed bar/restaurant and they even have a mechanical bull!

Crossroads in Garwood has live music every night. The Crossroads - Fine Dining, Live Music, Cocktails maybe dinner in downtown Westfield first.

Yeah last night they had a Culture Crawl event, lots of musicians and artists all over the town (Rahway). I've never had any problems there, wouldn't expect any. Train station is busy around the clock fairly much.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I ended up in Rahway at Patria. The food was great. After that, we went to Central Park in Linden (or is it Roselle?). We should have stayed at Patria, though there was plenty to look at in Central Park.

Westfield, summit, millburn are great for dining but yes...sleepy towns. Rahway is trying and patria can be fun but prices are NY-esque

Garwood has Rosie's wine bar if you like wine
Check out Huntley tavern in summit, then head to the martini bar in millburn after or moonshine supper club.
Also in summit is the grand hotel which has a lot weddings that the bar can be quite entertaining.
Chris michaels steakhouse in Woodbridge has dining and dancing
Montclair would have some great options for you
Redcadillac in union gets wild with tequila
Blackthorne in kenilworth, for food go to boulevard 57 or la griglia

That will keep your google busy....
In Rahway check out Luciano's but agreed, central park in roselle sucks unless you're 21-25 shore head
