Looking to move out of parents house (neighborhood, buy)

Figured I would make things simple and fill out the template.


Where are you coming from? Middletown NJ
Why are you moving? Want to move out of parents house and live with friends.
Where will you be working ? If NYC, what part of NYC? I work in Middletown NJ, buddy works in city around penn station.

Will you buy or rent? Rent
What is your budget ? 1500-2500
What kind of place are you looking for ? Would prefer a single family house with 3 beds and a bath. Driveway parking is also preferred and possibly a basement. I would like to stay away from electric heat and would like central air(I don't know if that info is too specific but I figured I'd mention it)

Will anyone (spouse, children, pets) be moving with you ? Me and 2 friends and possibly a dog down the road.
Do you need/want good public schools? No

Briefly describe the kind of neighborhood you'd like to live in:
I'm looking to move to an area within an hour from Middletown. I want the night life to be awesome and at the same time feel safe in my home. My buddy might work in the city so I would like to be relatively close to the train and busses.
