To photograph, non commercially....just practice and fun. No where below Driscoll bridges, above Union (forget Newark, Oranges etc-skinny white guy in a BMW is better in the burbs)

Anywhere along route 1 from Woodbridge to Princeton

Appreciate it....and I'll post pics here as well

Your restrictions make you miss a lot of the good stuff. The industrial area of Harrison by the tracks has plenty of what you're looking for. Plenty of decaying industrial in Kearny too.

Most decay is in the gritty areas. You're not going to find much taking a drive to the suburbs

I've shot some great areas of New Brunswick that fit this theme.

Go to Newark, Paterson, the South Bronx. You'll see plenty of things to photograph. LOL! Hey! You may even see some people hanging outside smoking the crack pipe. Make sure you have a full tank of gas, and your car is in good shape in case you have to zoom zoom the hell out of the area and fast.

Take a drive down to Trenton, plenty of abandoned factories, whole neighbourhoods boarded up, lots of photo ops!

The "skinny white guy" might draw some attention but the bimmer sure won't!

New Brunswick is probably a good place to start, as a PP suggested.

I have to say, it did make me laugh that you're looking for "urban decay" as you said in your post title, but want to stay in the suburbs to find it!

I also couldn't help but notice that irony.

I'm just surprised that you showed such restraint in not correcting OP's spelling in the thread title!
