Cat 1 storm versus a cat 4 storm. I think the cat 4 was worse.
The Mississippi coast took the full force of Katrina, not New Orleans. Biloxi and Gulfport were nearly completely wiped off of the map, but you didn't hear that on the news.
Yes I know because one of my favorite MS towns, Bay St Louis was completely wiped out...
Threads like this make me see red..who cares which was worse??? Many people have lost everything including their lives in both storms...the fact that they can post nonsense polls on city data means they are better off than many right now

You are kidding, right? There's NO WAY you can say real estate and personal net worth in NOLA and the Gulf coast in general is higher than it is along the Northeast Corridor.
Whenever anything can stop the NYSE from running which affects world markets, I really think that would involve a higher damage cost. Of course you do realize that I was referring to actual financial cost and not the cost of life, which is irreplaceable

You said that real estate and personal net worth along the Gulf coast is worth more than real estate and personal net worth along the northeast corridor coast. This is not true. I think you need to go back and read what you wrote.
Three's a lot more money and undamaged infrastructure in NJ/NY not to mention the destruction is nothing compared to what the Gulf coast endured. Apples to oranges.
Not so much just that, but in addition, I think it is being handled better. One think Katrina exposed was a large amount of ineptitude on all levels of government, federal, local, and state.
