i dont know why you are making that assumption. i dont believe countries are punished with higher prices of oil around the world. anyway, i wouldnt assume that secession meant enemies are created. we would still be very close neighbors, better to have good relations and not act like children. if we can have close relations with afghanistan, iraq, pakistan, etc. i think we can be friendly with are former countrymen.

oh and i just realized some of the states that would be high on the list of possibly secession states are major oil producers and probably major farmers also. you punish and you will get punished back. it would be better to make a free trade agreement for everyone. we have it with canada and mexico.

I'm talking about New Jersey which is nowhere near self-sustaining. Bedroom communities, by definition, rely on alternative economic centers for their lifeblood. Just creating a barrier between New Jersey and New York and Pennsylvania would create a severe disincentive for people to move into the New Jersey suburbs.

Texas is the only real secession candidate that would be a force to be reckoned with. California would have potential if its economy weren't in such shambles.

im not sure what you mean by "force to be reckoned with." all you need is a healthy economy with low unemployment and high quality of life. i think there are many states that have the capacity to do that independent of the federal government.

Few states would be able to maintain that without the benefit of the Union. Texas and California are really the only ones that "have it all."

Until the military pulls all their installations and manufacturing. Then everything from the state will either be an import or export. Leaving the state means getting a passport. Any idiot can start a petition on the internet.

See how many in the state want to function with no Constitution. SSI is gone as you are working in a foreign country. Idiotic at best.

Even without the military, these states have the necessary diversity, strength, and size in economy and natural resources that they would be alright (or California would if it got its act together). I'm not implying secession is a good thing for any state (much less returning to an AOC-style government). I'm just saying different states' outcomes would vary, with those two being the least likely candidates to buckle under without the benefit of the Union/Feds.

Actually,Nj doesn't have the largest amount of freeloaders in the country.
that would be California and Mississippi.
Those states have a greater proportion of people on public assistance.
Try again.
