Being able to relax has a positive impact on the quality of life and health. I wouldn't consider quality of life or health petty. But to each their own.

I would really like them to label the quiet cars. A lot of the time they forget to announce it and others people don't pay attention to the announcements. It's easier to just point and say "Look at that sign, you're in the quiet car".

I got stuck in the quiet once because there was no room in the normal cars. I had a ag of popcorn. After a few minutes I realized a man three. Seats ahead and on the other side of the aisle was glaring at me. Aparently the sound of the popcorn bag was too much for him.

Learn to block things out. I've been riding the trains for 33 years. You can sleep through announcements--your brain can disregard the ones that don't apply.

I do hate the robot lady voice though.

LOL.

Right now I'm just a little jealous of anyone who can take a train to work. I have to get up at 4:30 because if you have to drive and aren't on the Garden State Parkway before 6 a.m., you are doomed.

maybe they do not forget to announce it, they just turned off announcements in the quiet car that tell people that it is a quiet car. I think that is how the OP would want it
