Also, consider Totowa, Haledon, Hawthorne, Woodland Park or even Clifton if you are looking for affordable communities near Wayne.

Commuting can be the bane of your existence in NJ. You have a chance to avoid that completely. I suggest renting in Wayne for a year. It's a good town that gives you most os what you are looking for. And it would be aa good base for learning more about towns in Morris and Bergen if you choose to move after a year.

Good luck.

Having lived in Wayne for 20+ years, I can tell you for sure that it's a wonderful. convenient town with great people and great activities, recreation and shopping. Good transport options for going into Manhatten, too. I'm not sure where your place of business in Wayne is, but I would try to find housing options very close to this space. Wayne is very large geographically. During rush hour and school time, it is not unusual to need 35-40 minutes to get across town, especially during the holiday season when the mall gets busy. Welcome to 07470!

I say if you work in Wayne live in Wayne. Why do the commute. Do your research for what areas you would like to live. Wayne is big. From Lake areas to being close to shopping to being in NJ suburbia it no longer is rural as it once was, still a nice area.

I say heed the advice and live in Wayne. No reason to commute from Mahwah if you don't have to. Until, you get to NJ, only then you will realize what a nightmare commuting is in NJ. It will take years off your life. If you lived in Mahwah, you'd probably take 287, which has lots of speeding trucks, frequent accidents, leaving one stuck in miles of stop dead traffic making you hours late for work or late coming home. Outside of LA, NJ has some of the worst driving situations you will ever be presented with.
