I might suggest Bordentown City NJ also. It's 20 minutes drive from DT Princeton. You can get a 1 bedroom for under $950 a mo. Try the Chestnut Village apartments right off Route 130. Easy access to Route 206/295 to Route 1.

Bordentown's kinda in the sticks, though. That's the only downside.

I'll get heat for this, but honestly, Trenton, Ewing, and Hamilton (White Horse or Nottingham) are unbeatable for what your budget is and what you need.
