I worry w/ Lincroft w/ the development of the Avaya site....

Little Silver is really nice- but high taxes and shares HS w/ Red Bank.

I live in Rumson and although my house is small my taxes are pretty reasonable considering the services I get from the town. My kids are getting a great education and that's all that matter to me.

I purchased in Holmdel, and can attest that this township governing body is poorly running the township. With that said, if you have children.. this is an amazing town. I do not have children, but still opt to live here due to the home values holding fairly steady and there is always a market of buyers looking to own here due to the school system.

There are $1mm brand new developments and there are older farm homes.. I live in an "in between" area where homes are $550-$1.3mm with lots of trees and large properties (1.3-2 acres).

I highly recommend Holmdel becasue of the easiest commute to the city. You park for free at the PNC art center and take the academy bus into the city. Academy bus rips you off. But I make it door to door (wall st) in 1hr 15mins. Friday nights is another story with 1.5hrs - 2hrs commute.

Hi dmccauley-

There was a small discussion a while back about "middle class" in Rumson and Fair Haven, to a lesser extent. Would that be apt to describe you? IF so would you mine elaborating on how you feel/what your experiences are in the town.
MY family is looking to move to Rumson/FH/Holmdel in the near future and as middle/upper middle class I'd love to know more about that type of life style in this town.....

Thanks!

Holmdel schools are much better than Colts Neck. And it's closer to the city. I don't understand the lure of Colts Neck besides big properties (which are prevalent in that entire area in similar or better school districts for less money).

Hi Mets - Nope! Did you? now I'm wondering how to look around there after Hurricane Sandy. DId it do a lot or just a little damage in R/FH? Did you ever find a house?

I'd LOVE to live closer to the shore, in a good/great school district, with also the option of CBA nearby. Still trying to convince the hubby (and he commutes to NYC).
