That's zero sum... if you get in earlier enough to get a spot, someone who previously got a spot is now going to not get one. Then they have to get in earlier, etc, until eventually it fills up hours before the earliest train leaves.

If you live near the route of the 986 bus you can take that to Summit, but if you live 1.4 miles from Berkley Heights station you probably don't.

You could try the Murray Hill station; I doubt they have any permits available for nonresidents but their web site suggests there is usually daily street parking.

Usually these are things you figure out before you move. You should bike it or get a ride. It took us 4.5 years on the waiting list to get a parking spot at South Orange.

I don't think this will happen, because in your scenario, EVERYONE will have to wake up earlier which is highly unlikely.

Saw an ad for this in the newspaper about two years ago. Towne Deli, feet away from the New Providence train station, rents its lot out for about $75 bucks a month last I heard.

The issue isn't that the BH train lot is full, it's that there is a waiting list for parking permits. Arriving early wouldn't help that.

What the OP means is that the parking PERMITS are all taken, although that's not how s/he phrased it. Sure, he or she leaves earlier and gets a spot...and a ticket. Or a tow.

OP, get your name on the waiting list, and then check out other stations on your line. When I moved here there were two train stations nearly equal distance from my house. Red Bank had no permits available, but Little Silver did. Or, as someone else suggested, find a private resource.
