I have not seen any of these problems, but I really havent had to use customer service at all. What did you need to contact them about?

No idea what you are talking about with the dvr having ads either. My wife and I rarely watch anything live anymore, and only use the dvr. I do not think I ever saw an ad there. I have no use for their website either, so I could careless what it is like

I am no longer in my promotional period. I have the middle of the line TV plan, 3 cable boxes, 1 of which is a dvr with multi-room dvr, internet and phone. I pay about $137/month ($10 of which are taxes)

It was down for a little bit during the huricane, but I didnt have power anyway :>

I lost a cable box due to a pwer surge and then sent me a new one overnight the next day. The box outsidethe house died, and it took them 2 days to get out here and fix it, which seemed reasonable.

Default In Middletown

My Fios bill is $114.92/ month. TV/Phone/ Internet. My Comcast bill was $185/month - talked to a retention specialist and they could only save me $35. I also had very poor experiences with Comcast customer service department so it was a no brainer at the end of day.

This is complete nonsense. I've been a Fios customer for 4 years and never had a single problem. I just called customer service about 2 weeks ago to ask a question. I was on hold for less than 2 minutes and the guy even gave me a $5 discount off my bill every month for the next year, just for making the call.

I've had no issues with Verizon Fios customer service either (since 8/2012 - Cablevision previously). In fact they've been nothing but great to us. When we lost power for 11 days dues to Sandy, we called Fios and they credited our account for 11 days prorated, no questions asked. When we had issues with the cable box, they sent us a new one via next day Fedex and included a return label for the box we had.

We have the extreme package (TV, phone - international dialing, internet) and pay about $164 per month. I can call anywhere in the world for as long as I want. I also get a $10 per month discount from my employer (may pay for you to check to see if your company has a Fios corporate discount - I stumbled on it while I was perusing my company intranet site).

Yes, Verizon's customer service can be aggravating. But FiOS service is so many light years ahead of anything else that you won't have to call them very often. I love it.

How did you get that deal? Did you have to negotiate?

I've had 2 outages with Fios and both times they stated it would take 4-5 days for a tech to come out. First time we were out for the 4 days and that was awful. Everything was out- cable, phone, internet. The reason it was out was because a Verizon tech left something "unplugged" wherever they put the street unit part?? The second time was a few days ago and I knew it was the same issue, nothing wrong within the house or w the battery pack but something on the street. They gave us the same spiel about it being 4-5 days and I LOST IT. My husband called back and threatened to terminate the contract. He gave them the whole song and dance about me being diagnosed w cancer while pregnant (which was true) and how tough this year is and how I'm finally getting back to work and need internet (all very true!) but he really used that and they gave us $10 or $20 off our future monthly bills. We shall see what the rate ends up being. But I really thought 4-5 days was crazy to me....that I don't like. Service otherwise is fine. And we do have to wait quite a while when we are on the phone. But I am in Fort Lee, maybe it's just more congested over here.

I have FIOS here for high speed internet and phone and wind up paying $39 a month which is about $41 after taxes. They gave me that deal since they mistakenly disconnected my old high speed DSL and since there is FIOS in the area they will not reconnect copper line service.
No one here wants or watches any pay TV, we just have the new digital boxes for free TV and get about 50 channels over the air. The whole concept of paying for TV is very wrong to us even though many of us work in the business.

At my GF's house the Comcast bill was getting so ridiculously high we dumped them when they wouldn't give us any better deals. No FIOS available there so we went with Verizon Triple Play which is DSL, phone and Direct TV. It was SUPPOSED to be $79 a month, BS, the first bill was about 3 TIMES that. Some of the bill is supposed to get adjusted 3 months later, I have my doubts. They play a finger pointing game between Verizon and Direct TV, each one tells you to call the other.
Probably if we where going to do that over, I would just fire up a Clear Internet box which is between $20 to $40 a month depending on the deal, and how bad they want to keep you as a customer, then probably a Magic Jack for the phone and free digital TV.

I set up an antenna I got on sale for $3 at another house recently since they just moved and where waiting for pay TV. We picked up 53 channels of TV just like that and that town is further away from the stations in NYC.

Cell phone, paying $35/month unlimited everything, a carry over from the same plan I've had many years which I can't get back if I quit.

i won't argue that their customer service is good, but it's nowhere near as bad as you portray. Their website has never been down in my experience, and I visit it at least a few times per month. I came from Optimum, and FIOS is the first time that I could switch channels without delays (sometimes i'd end up changing 5-10 channels because i keep pushing the button thinking the signal isn't working on Optimum, then it catches up). I've never experienced pixelation with FIOS. I've never even noticed ads on the guide, but I'll look tonight when i get home. And i've never experienced a single mistake on my bill in 3 yrs of service.

I love FIOS.

That being said, their customer service is not the best, but it's no worse than Optimum was when I had them, and it's no worse than Comcast. It's also improved slightly since I initially dealt with them.
