Although everyone should wear a seat belt, I thought they couldn't stop you for not wearing one but could ticket you for it if they stopped you for something else and you didn't wear one? Did the law change? Either way, wear it. I make all my passengers wear it, and do not drive off unless they do.
John if my memory serves me correctly this is the 4th or 5th time you have posted about getting tickets for different infractions and other violations. Big brother must be following you around.
Because if you get in an accident, your body flying through the windsheild could strike and kill somebody.
this is a horrible attempt to make up a good reason. the better attempt is the one saying it costs to have to pay people to rescue you and for the medical costs.
the real reason ultimately is that they wanted to lower the statistics of automobile deaths so this was one thing to try to do that.

Of course Big Brother is following him around; this is New Jersey, the Police State.

Yep, about a year after they passed the seatbelt law they came out and changed it so they can stop you just for that.
In my book cops have no business involving themselves in motor vehicle matters at all, but that is in my book, not theirs. I got one of these a few years ago, just for that and no other reason.
Come on! Who wants to be restricted by a seat belt? It violates my rights to move freely through my car.
If you can't handle what you need to do while wearing your seat belt, then you shouldn't be driving. You're not paying enough attention to the road, if you're "moving freely through your car."
Driving is not a right, its a privilege. Hence the need for a license, for safety inspections, and all the governmental rules.
You no more have the right to skip wearing a seatbelt (and cost the taxpayers to rescue you, treat you, etc) than you do to talk/text while you drive.
And while we are at it, buckle/cage your dogs too. My daughter bf is a first aider and responded to a call where an older man had lost consciousness and driven off the road. When the first aid squad got there his medium size dog lunged at anyone who tried to help the old guy. Eventually the cops were debating whether to shoot the dog or not when one of the first aid squad snagged him with an impromptu leash.
