Hi,

I am looking to move to New Jersey (preferably not Northern NJ). My husband and I want to live in a family friendly area. We are also looking to have a large lot of land. We don't want to be right on top of our neighbors. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!

The parameters you give are rather vague. Here are some questions that, when answered, should give us a better idea of what regions of the state might work for you and your family.

1) Where do you and/or your husband work?
2) What is your current budget for purchase and how much would you be intending to spend per month on housing (mortgage+real estate taxes)?
3) When you state that you want a "large lot of land", what are we actually talking about? 1/4 acre, 1/2 acre, 1 acre, 2 acres?
4) Do you have children or are you planning to start a family?

I'm sure others will have some other question they may want answered to help provide you with the best possible sites as well.

Again, RUNYY has some good points you should elaborate on but don't write off "Northern NJ" unless it just doesn't work for you work-wise. If you're looking for land, Hunterdon, Sussex, and Warren Counties are worth looking at.

A lot of land is probably 5+ acres. We can afford 550k. Job wise, it would probably be Gloucester County or whatever is around there. We do plan on starting a family someday, along with dog breeding, which is why I'd like land. 3 bed, 2.5 bath would be ideal. The most important thing though is the safety of the area. The commute is less of a problem.

Thanks
