Hello all,
I, along with a friend, am moving to NJ as that is where my job has landed me. My worksite is in teh Piscatway area, however my roomates would be in Framingdale area. We are looking to find a place in between that woud suit our needs (23 y/o singe men). We are not looking to live in a crumby, run down area. However, we are also not looking to live in an area void of any excitment. We just want somewehre that has a decent amount of pubs/restuarents that we can go to within walking/5min drive distance. Our two points of focus are Red Bank and New Brunswick. In searching for apartments in these areas, we havent had great luck. We see alot of places in the Aberdeen/Matwan area. What are they like, are there any pubs/bars, or is it all just developmental communities? Is there a stereotypical 'main street'? Does anyone else have any suggestions in regards to places for young professionals to live?

My husband and I just bought a house in Old Bridge bordering Matawan. We are still young and like to go out. There isn't too much going on as far as a social scene. Main street in Matawan is a little run down and the few bars/restaurants look not great so we haven't been. Hazlet has a bar/restaurant called Park Place that is ok. Union Beach has (I think it has to be rebuilt because of the hurricane) a Place on the bay called Jakeabobs. Besides that is area is not really that happening. We will likely go to Red Bank or other places down the shore (pt pleasant area) for some fun places which would be 20-35 minute drive.
