Hi All,

I was just reading an older thread about relocating to Mullica Hill. I thought we had found our new home until someone mentioned to my husband about shore traffic. The neighborhood is in between 322 and the Mullica Hill bypass. I've read how "horrible" the traffic is during rush hour and on summer weekends. Just wanted to see if someone could confirm or deny this. We currently live outside Baltimore, so we are used to traffic. Not sure if what we would experience during the summer is anything worse than what we deal with now.

Also, randomly saw a post about radon gas in the Mullica Hill area, what's that about?

Thanks in advance!
Sarah

This would be better posted in the "NJ suburbs of Philadelphia" subforum, but I'll tell you what I can...

In terms of rush hour traffic since the bypass was built it is far less then it used to be. My son plays travel baseball and I have spent many days driving through Mullica Hill to get to games at rush hour. I never had a major traffic problem.

Shore traffic can be an issue as many people from SE PA go over the Commodore Barry and pick up 322 which they take to Route 55 to head to the shore points. Friday nights during the summer and Sunday afternoons during the summer are the main times you may experience heavy traffic. The building of the bypass has helped, but things still back up. Personally, the 2 months out of the year, you may run into heavier traffic a couple days a week would not discourage me from moving there. There are multiple backroads around the area and it is not hard to avoid the traffic on 322. I've been stuck in it and never really thought it was anything worse then typical rush hour traffic heading into or out of Philly.

As for radon, most of NJ and the northeast for that matter is a "Tier One" radon region. Not getting into my personal opinion of radon (which is a naturally occurring, omnipresent thing) and the testing and mitigation, it is something that is routinely addressed during a home inspection. If levels are elevated it is generally the responsibility of the seller to have a mitigation system installed. With a mitigation system in place the radon levels are reduced well below anything that could even remotely represent a health hazard. Basically, don't be concerned about it, but have the testing done when buying a home and have it mitigated by the seller if the levels are high.
