In terms of the laptop that kid is using, the picture wasn't very clear, but it certainly looks like a regular laptop and not one of those "toy" laptops. It doesn't surprise me because many of the Abbott districts issue laptops and tablets to their students as do many suburban districts (mine does). Currently at Woodrow Wilson High in Camden, every student is being issued a district iPad. Many companies also donate their old PC's and laptops to organizations that then provide them for low income individuals and school districts. I didn't see that picture and think anything of it. Laptops and tablets are great educational tools and a net saver to the districts when used properly.
