I know this is a highly variable question but we are relocating to nj from Long Island and are currently paying approx $190 per month for oil and hot water for our 1800 sq ft home and paying about $175 per month for electric. Wanted to hear what people were paying for compatible sq ft homes in northern nj. Any advice would be appreciated. Thx!

trotter... coming from LIPA, it can only get better. If you have a specific house that interests you, contact the utility (PSE&G or NJ Natural Gas) and ask for the last 12-months of charges for that specific property.

Keep in mind that "your mileage may vary" if you are a family of four buying from a widow or empty nesters.

PSE&G will not reveal this information. When I bought my house I asked and they would not tell me, simply because of the high variability of usage.
