Hi, we want to come down to AC for April vacation from Boston with kids.

We are going to have a two bedroom timeshare with a kitchen at the Wyndham Skyline, which is near Resorts.

I read the comments about crime, so I understand not to venture away from the casinos, and be in by dark. My question is, is it safe and close to walk from Resorts to Caesars area with a stroller on the boardwalk?

Is it safe and close to walk on the boardwalk to and from Revel for my husband by himself at night?

Which are the casinos good to walk around with kids and go out to eat, and which are not worth the time?

What is there to do for kids from 3 to 8 years old within under an hour drive (preferably half an hour)?

So far we are planning to go to Steel Pier, may be Storybook park, Ripleys Believe it or Not, Rainforest Cafe, arcades, Lucy the Elephant and aquarium.

Are there any nice playgrounds or parks?

Is there anyhting to do or nice places to walk around in nearby towns?

Is it worth it to go to Philly for a daytrip?

Thank you for any advice!

Walking from one casino to the other is very easy all along the boardwalk. The Steel pier is fun, but may only be open on the weekends in April. I'm not sure how far you are willing to drive, but you will find the boardwalk at Wildwood to be more child friendly, and Cape May is gorgeous. There are lighthouse tours all along the shore, and Sunset Beach in Cape May would be great for the kids.

You may find that the Rainforest Cafe is overwhelming and scary for a 3 year old, at that age my daughter was so terrified by the animitronic animals that she wouldn't go in the restaurant.

My kids are teens now, so I don't know what is currently available for little ones. But enjoy your trip.

Maybe it's just me, but I never thought of Atlantic City as a place to take children. There are so many great places to go with your children.....AC is not one of them, especially when it's not in the summertime. Get a refund and go somewhere else and have fun!

Are you coming Easter weekend? If so, there will be much more to do. If you are coming BEFORE Easter, be aware some things may not be open yet (Steel Pier) and things that are open, may be open weekends only (Storybook Land, Lucy). There really aren't any casinos that are designed to be appealing to kids, but you could take a drive down towards Ocean City, which is very kid-friendly, and again, if Easter or after, will have rides open on weekends. (Be aware though that ON Easter weekend though OC will be very crowded).

You could, it you want to, make an entire day of it, and drive the Ocean Drive down from OC to Wildwood and Cape May and have lunch or dinner on the water. It's a great road and a great drive in the off-season, very scenic, that goes through all the shore towns from OC to Cape May (it is the same route in the famous (down here) song "On the Way to Cape May", which you could teach them as you drive, lol: Myspace Music Player There are lighthouses along the way, the famous Doo-Wop era historic motels of Wildwood, horse and carriage rides and Victorian homes/hotels in Cape May, lots and lots to see and do. If you guys really want to get a feel for the south Jersey shoreline, this is the way to do it.

You do not have to worry about safety in the daytime on the AC boardwalk.

Well I know normally you wouldn't think of going to AC with kids, but we spent a lot of money last spring in Disneyworld, and we have four kids, so flying anywhere is expensive, so we wanted to take it easy this spring, but we have been to a lot of places around New England, so Atlantic City seemed like a whole new area to explore. Plus I have cousins in Maryland, who would come up, and they have a whole activity program for kids at the resort with an arcade, pool, movie night, ice cream socials, and a play room, plus we get a good deal as RCI members for ~$500 per week.

We are coming April 12-19, how is the weather, is it possible to get into 70's? We will probably be happy with anything over 65, coming from Boston, it will be warmer then here no matter what.

But thank you for all the tips!

This is great, I had no idea hotels were doing things like this in AC!

The temp could be in 70's, but that would be higher than normal. The beginning of the month could definitely still be very chilly, but for you coming from Boston, probably will find very comfortable.

If you decide to drive south of Atlantic City, you may want to take the kids to the Cape May County Zoo:

You could also stop at the Wetlands Institute:

Highly recommend Story Book Land! Great for young kids.

Also my kids loved climbing the lighthouse.
