BIf people really must own guns, use your noodle and lock them up. Nobody should have to bury a 6 yr old son when common sense would've easily prevented such a tragedy.

Wait til the NRA strolls into town. It was obviously everything but the weapon that led to that kid's death.

This story makes my heart hurt..... the picture of that precious boy and his Easter basket not even 2 weeks ago goes right through me. My continued thoughts & prayers to the family, surely they will never be the same.

The owner of that gun is obviously a complete and utter moron. IQ tests should be administered prior to anyone owning a firearm.

How terribly sad.

I heard there was some kind of pre-existing "scandal" with the family of the shooter, so much so that the local police department can not conduct this investigation due to "conflict of interest" and it had to be outsourced to another PD.....?

The case has been transferred to the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office because of a potential conflict of interest with a relative of the 4-year-old boy having a job in Ocean County law enforcement, authorities said.

Toms River boy, 6, dies after being shot in head by 4-year-old neighbor | NJ.com

One more unfortunate story of gun violence. Maybe the NRA will come out and recommend that every house be guarded by an armed law enforcement officer to avoid such a tragedy.

I wasn't certain of the details, but did stumble across this. (Much more info in the comments section that the actual article! ) Regardless, it's a shame... Tragic, horrific loss.

If you were really concerned you would demand schools use the NRA "Eddie the eagle " safety program directed to young kids.

There is fire safety, Dare, sex ed but heaven forbid we 'arm' our children with knowledge that might save their lives in just such a situation.
