Hi, my family is relocating to Randolph and we dont know much about the area or schools. We have three kiddos, 5y, 3y, 1y. I was wondering if anyone can give me some feedback about the elementary schools in Randolph. Are all of them equally good or is one better than the other. We are trying to figure out where exactly to buy the house depending on the elementary schools.
Thanks in advance for any inputs!

All 4 elementary schools do a good job. Shongum, Cener Grove and Ironia are mostly similar (my kids went through Shongum and we were generally very pleased). Fernbrook draws from different demographics and gets most of the ESL kids in the town; but it also ends up with lower teacher:student ratios as a result.

Feel free to send me a direct messageif you have other specific questions.

Hi HalfFull,
Thanks so much for your reply! Now, I shall focus in searching houses around Ironia, Shongum, and Center Groove schools =). It is nice that Fernbrook has a lower teacher/student ratio but I am afraid that esl students might slow down the speed of teaching/learning in the classroom.

It's a complicated issue. I've spoken to parents and kids that went to Fernbrook and they mostly liked it. There were times during the day that ESL kids left class (I guess for English or other specialized instruction), and it left the class with like 10 kids, which gave more personalized attention to the remaining kids.

As much as the elementary schools, Route 10 seems to create a bit of a dividing barrier. There are some great homes on the north side, but it can feel a little separated from the rest of town.

If you look at Fernbrook's test results, you'll see that is equal or better than the other three schools. My daughter went to Center Grove before moving on to Randolph Middle School and High School, and we are pleased with the results.
