Can our cash-strapped state afford stem cell research? Will you vote yes or no? Why/why not?
Note
Correction: The poll SHOULD read:
Yes, it's expensive but it'll pay off
No, WE'RE up to our eyeballs in debt

I'm admittedly torn between the two. On the one hand, stem cell research could make NJ a great pioneer however, borrowing money I can't help thinking it'll translate into more taxes later on. In this state, our leaders prove over and over that they're just not good at budgeting. But, as someone stated earlier, I'm also unclear as to how the money will be paid back (if not taxes). Perhaps they should try to raise money through drives (if they haven't done so already)

I'm voting no. Not for the research, but this spending has got to stop.

I'm voting no. It's a no brainer. Have you read the fine print as to how it will be paid for? You won't see it on the ballot explanation just like the other boondoggles on the ballot.
I've got a better idea. Why doesn't NJ do something radically out of character that would attract the private sector and better paying jobs. You know, people that can and will buy homes in NJ.
If SCR is a possibility to better mankind, there is no shortage of people who will risk their time and money to get it done.
Having our govt run with it would be just like pi$$ing money down a never ending drain. Haven't we learned that yet? Aren't we supposed to be one of the smarter states?

Our state cannot afford to enter the research industry. In fact...experimental research is NOT the business of any government. If the state should encourage corporations to engage in SCR if they want to be a "pioneer" instead of putting out bonds for it.

Ah..A voice of logic and reason amongst the noise...
The ONLY thing stopping the states bureaurocrats from implimenting your logic is that they can't figure out, yet, how to directly profit from it in the near term..
PS: Tried to point you but the logic of this system also escapes me.

Oh, they've figured it out already. They're breaking ground on a new research center near New Brunswick I believe. On the radio there was talk about one in Bergen Cnty and another in Camden . Who do you think is going to get contruction contracts and all of the other BS that goes along with NJ's corrupt way of life?
