Hi,

I'm in the process of buying a house. I received the contract back and found out that the sellers crossed out the word "proper" from the paragraph regarding to the maintance of the property. I wanted the contract to say "the seller needs to maintain the property until closing and make sure everything is in "proper working condition". They removed "proper" which raised a red flag and now I am worried they are trying to hide something. Why would they want to do it if not to hide something?

Also, they renovated the house in 2003. They had all the permits but just "closed them out" before putting their house on the market which was two weeks ago. Does this mean that the house will now be reassessed and we are looking at much higher taxes in 2013?

Thanks for your help!

Exactly! These are the questions you should be discussing with "your" attorney. That's what he/she is paid for - to advise you on your options and protecting you.
