I take my road test pretty soon in Wayne, nj. Has anyone else taken it there? Can you describe the test course, maybe draw it out? Thanks, any help is appreciated!!
You could probably unofficially scope out the site on a Sunday. You probably are not supposed to do that, but off the records I'm venturing a guess you could. They probably frown on that and might have a sign prohibiting "practice driving".
Other than that I would suspect its similar to others around the state. You could probably set up a few cones or barriers yourself on some quiet parking lot on a weekend and practice parallel parking into a space of somewhere like 22 to 25 feet.
Other than that they would check the usual driving skills, stopping, signalling, turning, staying on correct side of road, speed, the usual. Make sure you can parallel park well without hitting a cone since thats a disqualification if you do.
Youre prob better doing some practice in a quiet parking lot like a closed office on a weekend, etc.
Looking at it from above using Eeeeevil Demon Google Maps, you can study the layout of the road course, looks like there are numerous painted white stop lines in many places where they probably expect you to do a complete stop, the rest is up to your interpretation.
Here's a link, click on Satellite to see the layout:
Omg thank you so much for the google maps picture! Are you sure that is the real course for the road test though? Man just looking at that course is confusing the **** outta me!
I suspect that is the course and yes it seems somewhat confusing as you can see several cars in different positions, maybe guessing they are doing K turns?? Try some of the other mapping services online I think Bing Maps has aerial views from different angles.
My first job out of college was in Totowaand we would sometimes go to the Anthony Wayne on 46 for a burger. You could eat outside and see through the trees over to the driving test course. Some good (unintentional) comedy.
I just don't get the part with the circles. My friend told me there were "invisible stop signs" as you drive around the circles. My question was how do you know where to stop if there's no stop signs? The circles are really stressing me out.
I just took mine in March. It is not a tricky test site. just pay much attention to the stop signs you would be fine.
Parallel parking is trickier not in itself but when you come out of the parking spot to make a right turn, it is very easy to bump your wheel on the right curb.
I passed the road test for the first time. here I attached a map showing the process of my road test. Remember to full stop at intersections in addition to place with stop signs. remember to turn on and shut down signals at an appropriate timing. Keep aware of all other traffic or pedestrians. Good luck!
