I just moved into a "moderate income" apt and the landlord has not furnished window treatments and states that he will not. Isn't it the law that these things need to be provided?
I was told that it is NJ law. That landlords have to provide window coverings. (blinds) The apt has over 15 windows of wierd sizes and it is going to cost me a lot of money. I'm trying to avoid that. Was curious if there was another avenue to take.
Have never ever heard of a law requiring landlords to provide window treatments.
I've lived in many apartments back before we bought a house and window treatments were never provided.
You can get vinyl mini blinds in places like home depot, walmart for about $3.99
Cover the windows with the most exposure first and work your way up
Why not look for some curtains on sale too. Miss the Bradleys stores. They always had great sales.
Theres always hitting up a fabric store and making your own - a few bucks for a rod, a few more for some yardage of precisely the fabric you want, and a little time sewing.
I somehow feel like less of a man for saying that. But thats ok. I'm just cheap
Good idea, stores usually have odd sized fabric pieces on sale. I can't thread a needle myself.
Try WalMart. Are there any fabric stores left in NJ?
Theres a ton of them. One in Garwood, one in Union, theres a few in Green Brook, etc, etc.
My gf's mom knows them all - and, since she's incredible with thread, will be making the curtains for my new home (once we decide colors of course )
