So my front lock has been jamming repeatedly and it seems I am no longer able to get in with my key. I don't know what's wrong so I'd like to call a locksmith to help me either fix it or get a whole new lock.

I'd like to know if anyone has a recommendation for the area? Thanks.

Tired of cursing at my front door.

You might be better of replacing the locks(cost wise) yourself than hiring a locksmith to fix the existing locks..

Not to scare you but a good number of these locksmiths are notorious scammers and will threaten you into expensive locks or will try and charge you an exhorbitant amount of money. The locksmith that came to our house last year threatened my fiancee when she told him his prices were ridiculous and that she didn't want to use him. The guy told her that he wasn't leaving without doing the job. He eventually came down on his price but she was left in tears when all was said and done.... Unfortunately I wasn't there when this punk was threatening her and there was no way to track him down (read the article link below and you'll see why I had no recourse).

Definitely get a referral (sorry I don't have one...) or do it yourself and not go online like we did and Google "locksmith - yourtown". Those online locksmith sites make themselves look like they're a local company but they're not. They make false promises and contract out their work to unscrupulous people like the one we got.

This article describes exactly what happened to us (our attempts to fight this company was useless - no physical address, no manager etc.):

Just made the mistake of calling one of these companies. The guy came out in an unmarked car and talked to my wife, quoted her prices that were triple/quadruple what they had said on the phone, then got angry and borderline threatening when she refused to pay him anything for the trip. Now i'm seeing how widespread this scam is, its crazy how its being allowed to thrive. Maybe there is nothing technically illegal about it? At the very least, there should be some penalty for advertising false storefront locations.

OMG thanks guys for the heads up. All the lock needed was some WD-40 that day but there will come a time when I might need to change the locks. I think if it jams again we will just purchase a new lock and install that. I didn't get any local recommendations.

I'd advise you to get the new lock NOW. Drilling, hammering, and otherwise removing a lock which has jammed solid is no fun. Replacing a working lock is easy.

Cy Drake Locksmiths in Morristown, But I agree with everyone above, just goto a BigBox store, get a new lock, and replace it. Far Cheaper.
