We're in the process of moving to franklin lakes - looking for good yard maintenance services. We have about an acre, just need the grass cut, etc.. The people who lived there before us gave us their guy, but his rate seems a little high. He's charging $300/month and requires weekly service (doesn't allow bi-weekly). Does that sound reasonable?

$100/wk is high...I would think more like $60-$75/wk. I live in Wayne and pay $35/wk for weekly for a 1/3 acre. I think in general you will get high estimates because of where you are. My friends in Franklin Lakes have to search high and low to find contractors that will work for normal rates without giving them the Franklin Lakes "they can afford it" Inflated pricing. I'll look for my guys number when I get home later tonight.

Thanks! The rate the previous owner's guy quoted me was $75/week (75*4 = $300). If you find your guy's contact, please send it over. Thank you!

Look in the free driveway paper you get weekly and call some others for estimates. Call those already in your neighborhood. Most will require weekly as they work on a weekly schedule. Better yet, do it yourself for a while then post back if you still think the estimates are too high.

Sorry I read $400 somehow. $75 is on the high end for what I would think a lot like yours would cost but like I said you will usually end up on most people's high end simply because of where you are. I'll get you the number.

Anyone have any referrals they can send me? I'm new to the area, so I don't have too many leads.
