if EWR is your most frequent exposure to "Newark", then i totally get how it would be rated #1. So let's just improve the attitude of the employees at EWR, and Newark will be one of the most desireable cities. hehehehe

There most definitely is, but it gets lost in the larger North/South NJ thing.

Just another sad distinction for New Jersey that explains why it's in a downward spiral.

Agreed. I think most people in the state would say Mercer and Monmouth County is neither part of Northern or Southern New Jersey. I don't think Chris Christie is planning on ever passing a bill that will make official boundaries of what counties actually make up North/Central/South Jersey.

I would hope he wouldn't, I kind of like the unofficial yet widely accepted designations.

I was being a bit facetious but, you are right. I wasn't born there (in NJ). That's what I was told by both Northern and Southern New Jersians when I moved there. I guess that the people who live in the central part of NJ feel differently about that.

I've lived in newark for 31 years, and I'm also white. People look at newark from the outside and judge, who took the surveys ? Did they walk around newark trying to talk to people ? I live there and I've never been asked to take a survey!!!! Seems to me like they ones taking them have never been there. How were they chosen? The gangs in newark are the same as any city. I love newark and its getting much better then it was in the past. People only see the negative bs on the front page and think that's what the whole city is like. Yea, its a poor city, but I can think of hundreds of places that I would call unfriendly . Compton and watts alone are 2 citys way worse then newark, I've been to both. And I'm not some punk that scares easy. I walk all over newark, shopping, train, food ect and I've never had a problem.
