I thought this might be of some help to people looking for property in NJ. It gives the wealthiest communities and the median income of these areas.

Well look at Upper Saddle River taking the lead from Alpine. I honestly have never heard of half of those towns though. I guess I'm just not meant to ever live in those towns since I couldn't find them on a map if I tried.

So I guess I literally have to kill someone in order to get one of the three homes in Tavistock. That is helpful information.

Tavistock is one block. It is a very private community that is basically an extension of Haddonfield but broke away and became its own municipality so Haddonfield could have a country club (located in Tavistock) that can serve alcohol as Haddonfield is a dry town.

Now who wants to bet a bunch of people will be on here in a matter of days asking about moving to one of these towns because their school systems are so great? But of course we all know that they have an image to uphold. Someone will suggest a neighboring town which others will go against because it supposedly has bad schools but in reality it is just no good because it is not on this list.

I never heard of Tavistock. I've heard of the others. Except for Upper Saddle River, I don't think I've been to any of them.

The median incomes(they aren't even that high for NJ standards) don't quite stack up to median home values in most of those towns. Either a lot of the people who live there bought before the housing boom and/or there are a bunch of folks living there who are house poor.

Essex Fells (#4) borders "poorer" West Orange, but they closed the only road between the two some years ago. I actually looked at a townhouse there when I moved here, but while it was very nice inside, it was right on Bloomfield Ave, so I missed my chance to bring the average down :-)

I thought Saddle River was actually wealthier than USR? Also, is Alpine the Monaco tax free haven of NJ . $49mm homes but a median income of "only" $178k

Yes, same here. Saddle River was always considered wealthier than USR, and I thought about that after I read that article. USR is large "country" type homes on large pieces of property. In Saddle River you often can't even see the houses from the street. It's much more secluded.
