South Trenton is considered a safer section of the city, FYI.
What about Villa Park ?

Villa Park is slightly worse then South Trenton, but good by Trenton standards.

Chambersburg is bad now.

Have you considered Levittown, in Pennsylvania's Bristol Township? I know a woman who's lived there her whole life and I've been around that area. Houses seem reasonable (well, by Jersey standards at least) and as long as you stay out of the one bad neighborhood (whose name escapes me but starts with a B), it'd seem a decent option if you don't mind a 20-minute commute even under good conditions. At least, it puts you within striking distance of Trenton and Philadelphia such that you have access to those job markets if your present job disappears.

I went to WWP and have friends that went to High Tech. Those are highly rated public schools. But when I interfaced with people that went to Hun, Lawrence Prep, Ped, in college (Princeton U), it was easy to tell they got a higher quality education than I did at WWP and that my friends did at high tech.

It's worth considering living in PA to save on taxes... and then utilize private schools for education with the saved money.

Or live in PA, send your children to good PA public schools, and save even more money. That $30k+ a year is better off saved for college/grad school. A bright child who goes to a good public school that offers a sufficient swath of extracurricular activities and advanced classes will end up more than fine.

Not really. More like:

Trenton - Bad
Suburbs - Mediocre

For different reasons, though.

The guy's living on a 1200/month rent budget. There is no way he can afford Hun, Princeton, Lawrenceville Prep, etc.

Also, you got into Princeton from a public school. Doesn't seem too bad, now does it?
