Cape Town sees more tourism than Newark, big deal. Also, Newark has NYC and a bunch of nice towns next door. Miami is surrounded by areas like Homestead, Opa-locka and a bunch of sprawled out communities = LOL. Also, tourism and real estate is not as stable as you think. It just means you have a bunch of local low wage jobs and a few international property investors. Low wage jobs = a bunch of people doing wacky things just so they can buy fast food = Florida.

Wacky logic. Tourism is a big deal......while Miami has Homestead as a neighbor I doubt neither international or US tourists visiting Miami ever say let's visit Homstead and likewise with NYC.....international and US tourists visiting NYC are unlikely to say let's visit Newark while we are in NYC. To attract tourists you have to offer something to attract them and Newark has nothing to offer. Regarding real estate, if you check statistics you would see that real estate is rebounding across the US including Florida. It took 8 years for George Bush to dig the economic hole this country was in when he left office and it's gonna take a long time to dig ourselves out.

There is no wacky logic. Cape Town sees more tourism than Newark. It also has a very nice oceanfront, some thriving beaches and a scenic mountain range. The same thing can apply to places like Rio, San Juan, or even Kingston. So that negates any sort of idea that a city is somehow better off than another due to tourism and beaches (unless you think those places are better off than Newark. If that's the case...). Also, most tourist end up heading to Miami Beach just how tourist heading towards the NYC metro end up in Manhattan. Miami city-proper is some poor city that houses many locals who make money selling drinks along the beach. Maybe Calle Ocho may attract a few people, but other than that, not much to brag about. The same thing can be said about Orlando, which has Disney and Walmart pushing its local economy. Outside of Disney, its typical backwards Floriduh.

Even attempting to compare Cape Town, Rio, San Juan and Kingston isn't just laughable.....it's hysterical. In case you haven't noticed Newark is devoid of an oceanfront, thriving beaches and scenic mountain ranges, however, if you enjoy visiting slums, abandoned buildings and unsafe neighborhoods then your in luck !!!

Obviously, my point went over your head. Reread my post and think about it deeply. Face it, outside of beaches and theme parks, Florida is a premier destination for those waiting to see decrepit trailer parks, run down suburbs, sprawled-out gated communities, McMansions, and southern shanty towns.

Your "point" never went over my head because you had no point. Your now attempting to compare New Jersey and a Florida as opposed to the original comparison of Miami and Newark of which there was no comparison. Unlike New Jersey Florida is a premier destination for world class beaches, theme parks.....AND weather you can enjoy them in 52 weeks a year.....unparalleled salt water fishing, deep sea fishing, fresh water fishing, snorkeling, scuba diving and too many to list outdoor activities.

I made a point...but you couldn't understand it. I already broke down your whole "but...but...we get tourists!" argument by using your same logic in regarding whether Newark is better than Miami. You just keep repeating things that were already addressed in my previous comment. There's not much I can do if you're choosing to not understand. But hey, if you'll take Tijuana over Cleveland because of the weather and beach, that's you.

Dude.....whatever your smoking put it down and try to focus. We were discussing Newark and Miami and somehow you have managed to insert Rio, San Juan, Cape Town, Kingston, Tijuana and Cleveland into the equation which makes you sound completely incoherent.....but if it helps answer your question I'll take Miami weather and beaches over Cleveland any day....and Newark too !!!
