If you expand on the EeEeeevil Racist censor Google Map
What?
No what's about it. Ever since Google several years ago started censoring newsgroups according to their liking and totally eliminating or pretending anything they do not like or agree with simply does not exist, while it does outside of Google,,,,well that is the exact definition,,,and even though I'm usually the one who cries out "There ain't no such thing as racism",,,well I make an exception for such outright racially based censorship.
Anyhow that's a rant about our racially based censor Google, now back to our originally scheduled program,,,before we get too far off the subject.
Is it just me and my friends or is getting lost in this area at least once one of the the universal experiences of learning to drive in and navigate NJ?

I don't get lost most anywhere because I know most of the East Coast, at least the neighboring states and most of the back roads quite well, but yeah, it's confusing. I also worked around there when I-95 was first being built.
But if you take a "normal" driver, even one of my kids, he asked me how I-95 North loops around then goes South again?? You sort of have to know the whole story to understand it and what your choices are.
yay. more miles of road to maintain. eventually, they'll be just as clogged as the current road. love the rat race!
Actually not much of any new roads to maintain in this project. Mostly it is ramps between existing roads. Eventually they want to dualize or expand the 2 lanes each way to 3 lanes on the Pennsy pike section, but I'm fairly certain West of there it's already been expanded years ago already.
It's nice for continuity, but really it's something that's only going to matter to people who aren't familiar with the area. (or who the couple of new ramps help). It's not like any new highway is being built here.

Correct, west of Route 1 the PA Turnpike is 3 lanes each way for about 25 miles. East it's 2 lanes each way to the bridge but that will be widened as part of this project. I always found it funny that the Eastern-most section of the PA Turnpike is 2 each way while NJ's ~connector~ to the PA Turnpike is 3 each way. The infrastructure on the Eastern portion of the PA Turnpike is sorely outdated (and, IMO, underutilized) and this project will fix that.
I-95 could be connected on Monday, then it would just take a few weeks or months to change the signs. No roadbuilding needed.
1: Delaware I-95 north of I-295 and Delaware I-295 swap designations. I-95 now runs over the Delaware Memorial Bridge
2: I-95 in Pennsylvania becomes I-295 (there is no I-295 in PA; PA Route 295 may need redesignation)
3: NJ Turnpike becomes I-95 south of I-195. Current rump "I-95" over Scudder Falls becomes I-295.
Done.
Alternate plan would be to redesignate NJ I-295 as I-95, then redesignate part of NJ I-195/NJ 29 as I-95 to connect to the existing I-95. Not sure if naming rules would allow the stub I-95/I-295 from Scudder Falls to Trenton to become I-295, or if it would have to be I-395. This plan might require changes at the current NJ-29/I-195/I-295 intersection.

It might make it easier to get from North Jersey to Philadelphia. I've never liked the Route 73/Route 90 connection to the Betsy Ross Bridge.
I know, but that would be too easy, also giving in to the toll roads, and most importantly I don't think anyone in or near Philadelphia would let you redesignate the Delaware Expressway I-95 to anything else. Too central and ingrained and Philly rightfully owns that.
Also this plan is much closer to the original I-95 routing which at one time bypassed the whole NJ turnpike altogether.
