We will be relocating for my husband's job in Franklin Lakes and Sparta seems to offer what we are looking for.

Can anyone give me a sense of the commute? My husband works typically 7-7ish, so he usually only hits rush hour traffic to work, and misses most of it coming home. We are fine with a commute of up to 1 hr.

He travels a lot, so he will likely be in the office only 50-70% of the time.

Thank you in advance.

EeeeEvil DeeEeEemon Google Maps shows 3 different routes which are about 45 minutes from town to town.

One of those routes, the back road way used to be an unpaved back road, but might be all paved by these days. Looks like it is.

To me looks like you could back road it over to NJ 23 then a short piece of I-287 North so to me it looks like you might only hit a small section of traffic on 23.

I would try it sometime during the times you project or even just click on the map at those times and you might get a traffic estimate.

I commute that way daily (alas, I do not get off in Franklin Lakes!). He'll want to take Glen Road to Oak Ridge Rd to 23 South to 287 North. Depends where you live in Sparta - that can honestly add 20 minutes! Not a bad commute at all, ESP if leaves early enough to get to work by 7 AM. If you are on the side of Sparta closer to Jefferson, it's about 35 minutes. Lake Mohawk side is still under an hour.
