Jevon Tyree of Rutgers Scarlet Knights says coach's bullying led him to quit - ESPN New York

Are we getting soft? A Long Islander has, dare I say, bullied one of us ! ! ! ! I cannot even believe this is happening. Long Island does not bully New Jersey. We bully Long Island. This calls for blood I say.

I love Rutgers, but the Mike Rice fiasco was a mess. I heard the official statement from Rutgers on the football radio broadcast today....the usual vague lawyerspeak. More evidence about some of the ugliness of the culture of football, if true.

The bigger issue might be how the AD handled this - claiming she spoke with the parents twice and the father flat out calling her a liar.

For someone whose past cast serious doubts on her ability when she was hired, this does not look good for her long-term employment:

Rutgers made this big rush into "big time" college athletics and let's be honest, they've bungled it. Even Schiano had a middling record and no Big East titles.

The Big 10 is going to be a rude awakening for Rutgers. Half the teams will throttle them. Imagine what Ohio State will do...ugly. The best they can hope for is 3-4 wins against teams like Indiana & Illinois.
