You can take it to be whatever you want, but from our own experience, I can tell that the school is a very good one. Our teacher's assessment of our daughter in Kindergarten, just 1 1/2 months in, was spot-on, and we have seen a visible improvement in her areas of developmental opportunities already. Moreover, our daughter is very much enjoying her new friends.
The school is in a section of town that is relatively wealthy, as you'll clearly see from the surrounding neighborhoods. That's not to say that there are other parts within Riker Hill that's more middle-class/upper middle class.
Having been here since May, I will say that getting to know families has been somewhat tough because everyone else already had established friendships and networks, but the few families that we know are extremely caring, giving and give off a great amount of a sense of community. You already have a good community to rely on with your Chinese background, so I would definitely take advantage of that. (Our neighbors three doors down are Chinese-American and the wife grew up just two blocks away.)
I know there are a few others in town who would correct me if I'm wrong in any of my assessments.
Any other questions...ask away!
