Jamaica. I couldn't think of a better retirement than hanging out, partying, and smoking reefer with Jamaican geezers. Fiji and Barbados are also options. I'd like to be near water as I'd like to do some boating/fishing.

After kids are out of HS (2.5 yrs), we're thinking of moving to Morristown or the very nearby area. As far as retiring, I'd like to be near my kids - that's more important than low taxes or warm weather (warm weather is actually a negative for me). I'd also like (well, I demand) to be near good medical care.

If you like running in cool weather or like to ski or snowboard, it certainly doesn't suck.

Cool weather is anything under 70 to about 50 degrees. Anything under that is cold not "cool". Nov-Mar is COLD, and running in the cold sucks. Ill give you the skiing and snowboarding thing. That certainly can be fun and only done in the winter. I'd gladly give that up though for year round warm weather.

I don't agree at all. And that's ok. Different strokes and all. To me 20 degrees and below is cold. My perfect running temp is between 40-50. Both of my kids (as of now) want to go north to college. I'm a-ok with that.

South Dakota??? Winter is there. You missed it. Although I'd say San Diego is probably what was meant.

We considered New England too but wherever we go has to be warmer
My cousin lives in the Napa. A few years back he left the house for a few days with the heat off. All the pipes froze. I would have never thought it possible. New England weather is funny. The coast is almost the same as NJ, just cooler at night. Go a hundred miles north into the mountains and then you're cold.
