Just wanted to find out how many are bypassing the NJ Turnpike just to save a couple of bucks. Do you think you're really saving any money? I can be such a cheapskate and somehow always find my way back to rt 9 when I see the price of gas peak up. But, I have to wonder how much is saved when traffic becomes stop and go, not to mention the time saved. For the record, I work nights and commute from Woodbridge to Lyndhurst so I'm away from rush hour traffic half of the route.

The GSP is also toll free from Woodbridge up to Rt 22, then you could take either NJ 21 or US 1/9 up or the Tpke from 15E.

Don't use the 1/9 from Newark to woodbridge. It takes FOREVER to reach the final destination especially with all those pesky traffic lights near linden. Depending on where you live in Newark, take 22-GSP-1.

Yeah, or I-78 to GSP and down. In that direction SB there is no toll and off peak usually not much traffic.

Thanks all. Done the 22 to GSP route also. Just adds 4 miles I believe. But, yeah, just wanted to get the reassurance I guess. Happy Holidays!

It's always noble to avoid the Turnpike whenever prsctical. I leave that road for out of ststetsi mostly to pay the tolls
