We have gone to home depot and for a quote received $9600 for cabinets without installation. We would install ourselves. Any places in the area, mom and pop businesses you can recommend for cabinetry? We do not want particle board. Plywood or hard wood only.

Have to checked out CabinetsToGo.com ? I have not used their cabinets but have been to their store in Newark area. Their prices looked OK. Also, checkout solidwoodcabinets.com.
