Hi All,

I am in love with a house on Monroe place in Bloomfield. How would you describe the area safety wise and community wise? I currently live in Jersey City Heights and have been here for 8 years.I'm a bit city smart but still a white female. However my partner travels a lot for work and I would be alone in the house. Is it safe? I also work in NYC is the west village- how's the commute and what are the walkable options?

Thanks a bunch!

safety wise i would say its similar to the heights and downtown JC. Its also close(walking distance) to downtown bloomfield and transportation to NYC.

Default Bloomfield Historic area

If you're speaking about the property currently on the market, that is a lovely house! It's in great old, downtown area with beautiful, large Victorians.

I believe this is a quiet, safe area. If you are concerned about the neighborhood, the best idea would be to call the Bloomfield Police Dept. and discuss the crime rate in that area. I think there is a nearby police station, as well.

You are very close to the Midtown Direct train which takes you into Penn Station. From Monroe, you can either walk to the train station or park in the brand new parking garage there. There is also the Decamp Bus Line which you can catch on Broad St. and takes you to the Port Authority.

The historic area is right off the Bloomfield Town Green and steps from downtown Bloomfield, which has been undergoing revitalization for some time. There are some excellent restaurants there and, Bloomfield College Westminster Arts Center, which has theater, music and dance performances in a beautiful old church.

This part of Bloomfield borders on Glen Ridge and Montclair, which are both known for their historic homes and neighborhoods, as well. You will have access to Montclair and it's many shopping districts and high quality restaurants.

If you would like more information, you can direct message me.
