A friend of mine hit a big-ass pothole in Clifton on Main Ave and wants to seek reimbursement from the county. Her insurance deductible is $750, the repairs are around $1200, and the form she has asks for insurance info. If she puts down that she has a $750 deductible, despite having paid cash for the repair (rather than raise her premiums) is she SOL in getting close to a full reimbursement?

I don't think there is a uniform policy for how towns handle pothole claims. Some pay, others don't; I think that many that do pay will only pay 50% of claim with the driver leable for some blame for hitting the pothole. As to insurance... good question for her agent.
Did it happen to be the one by Clifton self storage? I hit that monster of a pot hole and it dented my rim and cost me $600 to fix the damage and I was wondering if the town would pay for the repairs as well.
