We have some good ones here in Southern NJ. Among my favs are:
Sage Diner on Rte. 73 in Mt. Laurel - Food is consistently good here, BUT there IS a Cracker Barrel just a little further south on 73..I love Southern food and you can get grits, catfish and country fried steak for breakfast here..so Cracker Barrel for the win, ultimately..lol
Berlin Diner on Rte. 73 in West Berlin - Great Eggs Benedict and homefries, great prices, decent overall menu selection, quick and friendly service.
Whitman Diner on Rte. 42 in Turnersville - Wish it were a bit closer as this diner does everything great - breakfast, lunch & dinner IMO. Crab Benedict or Red Velvet Pancakes..yummy. You can get coffee and Kahlua, a Mimosa or Bloody Mary or other alcoholic beverage with your breakfast? Oh my!! Overall, a notch above other diners in the area. Plus, they have a really hip Martini Lounge to boot? How cool is that?
I have a diner very close to me on Route 35, but it isn't open all night. That's something I noticed when I moved to Monmouth County from Bergen County. No all-night diners, and no all-night supermarkets.
Hard to pick a favorite but whenever I go to diners, I usually order pancakes with a side of Taylor ham. Sometimes waffles, but usually pancakes. There's something about having breakfast at any time of day or night I love.
There's a diner in Roselle Park called Sunrise Diner and it used to be iffy until they recently changed hands (or got a new cook, not sure but something changed) and I got the best waffles there one night. They were served with fresh fruit on top, so so delicious. I also get BLTs from there occasionally and they're excellent but it's kind of hard to screw that kind of thing up.
Americana Diner in Hightstown was voted best diner in NJ. It's awesome check it out.
