Thanks for reply. Yes, the deposit is only $250. I said to my roommate that i can split $250 with her. But she just doesn't return the amount I gave her which is $1025.

i mean your only option is small claims court. Do you have the check you wrote? Im hoping you wrote security deposit on it. In the future get a receipt for any transaction and always look at the lease/speak with the lease holder to confirm that the actual security deposit is. Sorry. Not much else you can do.

If people are sleeping in the hallways, he is violating the town zoning. You can a) call the town and report him or you can b) take him to small claims court for your deposit. You could also tell him you plan to use the deposit toward rent and if he has a problem with that you're going to do a and or b above.
