I plan on relocating my family to either Barnegat or Manahawkin this coming year. We are currently looking at different areas. My children are both still preschool age, but I'm looking for information on the elementary schools in town. I read a lot of posts on the new HS, and the differences between Barnegat HS vs. Southern Regional, but no one talks about the differences in the elementary schools. Aren't the Stafford schools set up differently? How much of an impact does it have? Also, is it true that they will be building another elementary school in Barnegat? If so, whereabouts? I look forward to all your comments. This board is always so helpful...
Happy Holidays!

I have been in Barnegat for 17 years. We will be moving in the near future but staying right here in Barnegat. I have three children in school and I am very pleased. The new elementary school is currently under construction. It is located near the high school, off Barnegat Boulevard near Rosehill Road.

The new elementary school so far looks amazing! I have children in elementary, Middle and HS. I have never had a problem with any of the the teachers or staff. Mr. Chidiac the VP of Collins was on fear factor, the kids think he is a hoot! Very involved! The Teachers are wonderful and get back to me right away, if I email them or call with a question. The Collins elementary has alot of programs for the kids after school like drama, ask prep, etc. They have a chorus program. The only thing I don't like is the art program at Collins, but, I hear it's great at Horbelt.
The middle school is expanding as well. They are adding more sports programs.
To me, it's all about the HS. We preferred a smaller HS in comparison to Southern. Our teachers are young, full of excitement and ideas. My son plays football, and basketball. We've had great experiences in both!

Another bonus, voted in our school budget each year are FREE summer camps run by a head teacher and camp counselors M-F 9ish to 2:30 It keeps the kids busy. My kids like it~
Good Luck
