Do you have children, i.e. need good schools?

How long of a commute is your hubby looking for?

Where in NYC does he work? Midtown, downtown?

Yes, provide some more information. You aren't giving us much to go on. There are a number of places that fit that description in NJ.

What is "interesting" to you?

Where in Manhattan do you work (look at a map--NNJ runs alongside of Manhattan so what's good for a downtown commute might not work for a midtown commute)?

It only takes a couple of minutes to answer the question in the sticky at the top of the page. That will help people help you.

yes here is the detail....my husband works at wall street and he wants door to door commute to be around 1-1.15hrs...and we dont have any kid now but ll be staying at that home for longer time...so looking for a area with good schools..and i work in NJ but my work place is not fixed so i can not consider that place as of now....interesting means a area where we can go for a walk, any park and near to shopping center ,grocery stores and with diverse ethnicity including asians.....counties which are in my mind till now are middlesex county, morris county.....mercer is also good but it seems that the commute will be longer and also bit pricey...

if you don't have children yet, is there any reason why you wouldn't consider renting for a period of time? Parsippany comes to mind, but I don't know if the townhomes are that cheap. a 60-75 minute door to door commute will be tough for wall street, unless you look further south and take the ferry, which I think is expensive.

oh ok...its ok if commute is little longer but he prefers to go through NJ transit train only...and we are already renting an apt....but now we are thinking to buy small town house so that we dont have to pay rents anymore and ll pay mortgage instead...i looked plainsboro and piscataway but i dont have much idea about those areas and taxes...etc...

You might look along the train station towns on the Raritan Valley NJ Transit line. Since he all is going towards Wall St he all would switch at Newark Penn to a WTC Path train. That would give you pretty much what you alls are searching for.

I'd suggest looking at Plainsboro, West Windsor, Princeton Junction.

The West Windsor-Plainsboro school district is excellent.

The area is very diverse & it's a lovely area in which to live.

Lots of activities in the area for adults & children. Museums, local theater, etc.

The NJ Train station is in Princeton Junction. You can switch to the PATH at Newark & get off the PATH at World Trade Center.

Or, he can take NJ Transit into NY Penn Station & take the subway down to Wall St.

See www.njtransit for train schedules. Princeton Junction is on the NorthEast Corridor line.

Make a list of possible towns that interest you both. Plan day-trips to visit each town. Walk around, get a feel for each area.

Welcome to NJ.
