I am moving to NJ from India with family in 1 month.
My work location is going to be Brooklyn -NY. Looking for 2 bed aptmt within the range of $1500-2000 in Indian community. I am ok for ~1 hr daily commute. Almost sure that I will have to stay in NJ - JC, RidgeField, Weehawken, Secaucus, Rutherford, Bayonne etc
Pls suggest me any decent communities at above mentioned places which are safe for family.
Largest Indian community in that area is going to be the Journal Square area of Jersey City. Should be fairly easy to find a 2 BR apartment in your price range.
Your commute would consist of a walk to the Journal Square PATH station, a 12 min ride to the World Trade Center stop in Manhattan, and then another 15-20 min ride into Brooklyn from there. It is a fairly easy commute and there are lots of Indian restaurants and grocery stores near the intersection of Newark Avenue and Kennedy Boulevard in Jersey City.
Try searching on Craigslist or other websites for "india square" or "little india" in Jersey City

I see tons (literally tons) of Indian families living within a half mile radius of Little India. So why would having school age children preclude him and his family from living there?

Majority of the literally tons of Indian families you see living within half a mile radius of Little India fall in two categories -
1. they do not have school going kids
2. they do not have enough $$ to move to a better neighborhood

Hi
Your requirements for price, commute , family oriented neighborhood offering easier cultural assimilation for your family can be met in the west windsor - Princeton Junction - Plainsboro area and some neighboring towns .
Towns north of here offer less for your money and not a good mix of your needs being met.
Please message me your preferred move in date and if you have a good credit score / income.
Landlords are prescreening prospective tenants in NJ.
Regards
Shalu
You want someone just moving to US to live in Princeton to commute to Brooklyn? Seriously?!?!

The guy is a realtor trolling the site to try to find potential clients. Like a used car salesman, he'll lie and trick the unsuspecting or naive to make a commission. They have no morals or scruples, heck they are violating this sites TOS on this and several other posts.
Jersey City to Brooklyn is such a long commute. I'm thinking longer than an hour depending on what part of BK. Why don't you just move to Brooklyn?
