Where are you coming from?
- Union City, NJ

Why are you moving?
- We currently rent a basement apartment that seems to flood every few months. It is time to get out! Plus we have a dog and would love a nice yard for him to run around in.

Where will you be working ? If NYC, what part of NYC?
- I work in Brooklyn, NY. My boyfriend works in Nutley, NJ.

Will you buy or rent?
- Buy.

What is your budget ?
- Up to $300,000.

What kind of place are you looking for ?
- We'd like a single family home with a nice size backyard and access to a NJTransit bus line to NYC. I'd like my max commute time to Port Authority to be an hour or less.

Will anyone (spouse, children, pets) be moving with you ?
- Boyfriend and a greyhound.

Briefly describe the kind of neighborhood you'd like to live in
- We'd like a quiet, safe neighborhood. Pet friendly (don't want to be surrounded by parks that don't allow dogs). My boyfriend is a Brit and would love walking distance access to an unpretentious local bar - if they show early morning soccer that is a huge bonus. Nowhere too "middle of nowhere" feeling.

List three things that are important to you in order of importance.(examples: nightlife, outdoor activities, rural/urban, safety, downtown area, charming, new construction, proximity to XYZ, family oriented, easy parking, short commute, etc)
1. Easy commute to NYC - I really want to avoid more than 3 transfers. Right now I do a bus to Port Authority and NYC subway and would like to keep it that simple. Having to do bus to Light Rail to PATH to subway will drive me nuts!
2. Pet friendly parks.
3. A decent size house with a big backyard in a safe neighborhood.

We've been looking in the Union/Linden/Bayonne/Clifton areas. We found a place that we love in Linden but figured I'd post in case there's a perfect place I don't know about. I grew up in NYC and only moved to NJ a year ago so I am unfamiliar with most of the neighborhoods.

Thanks very much!!

Safety is a bit of an issue in parts of Clifton and Union, but you'll find homes in your budget.
