From what I read, Showboat is really closing down. Its not just a bluff. Where as, Revel is still looking for a serious buyer. If anything, The Showboat closing should help Revel and the other Casino's. I still feel bad for the Showboat Employee's. Saw a guy on news 12 interviewed this morning. He's been at the Showboat for 30 years. He was basically brought to tears with the news.
Funny how less than a week after Revel warns of closure without a buyer, Showboat closes.
I think Ceaser's has something up their sleeve.
I just heard a radio ad trying to drum up support for a casino near Woodbury Common. The traffic on that section of the NYS Thruway is already a problem. If they add a casino in Woodbury they might have to widen the Thruway to 5 lanes in each direction from the Tappan Zee up to exit 16.
Sorry, but always associated "Revel" with the Sopranos as at least far as that show went the "boys" made plenty of money. So much money and so steady it kept one or two persons alive longer than they might have been otherwise. *LOL*
Even Johnny Sack was powerless:
"again with the money"
"yeah, again with the money, so name your price or get the *f* over it".

IF Caesar's owns Revel, why announce the Revel Bankruptcy before the closing of Showboat? Close Showboat and try to save Revel. If that does not work, then declare.
Showboat went downhill when they changed from the New Orleans theme to that dark, dingy blues. Gambling wasn't the same there either. We stopped going when we felt like we needed to carry a flashlight and gone was the "dance-with-me" feeling.
As for Caesar's - nope, went in there exactly twice in all the years we went down a minimum of once a month - in our 15 years in NYC. Stopped going to the Hilton after a couple times not hearing that ding ding in a couple hours and Trump lost us as well with its dark and dreary, can't find my husband 2 rows over rehab. We tried going elsewhere and kept returning to the Trop. And it was definitely a a ROI decision - not enough ding dings and too much sliding in the dollars.

Ceasars was rumored as a possible Revel buyer the first time, but there were concerns over Caesars owning 5 AC casinos. I could definitely see them trying again.
Showboat is still making profits and if it were freshened up, it could do well. The house of blues venue should be a selling point. That said, its a small casino and I can see why its being treated as an afterthought by Caesars. Its clearly the worst property they own in AC. Needs to be bought out by a smaller group that will be willing to do the necessary updating, obtain quality restaurants and entertainment, etc.
