Isn't Old Bridge down the shore? The shore bridge (on the Parkway) is in Old Bridge, right? My mom told me that people who couldn't afford to live in N. Jersey (Essex, Bergen Union) moved over the bridge in the 70s. Houses are cheaper over the bridge. I can't imagine commuting to NYC from Oldbridge. You'd have to drive the Parkway, right? Try moving in Essex or Bergen. I know in Essex the bus picks you up or you can drive to Harrison. When I worked in the city, I drove 280 to Harrison every morning. It's OK. Montclair is good cause NJ Transit stops are there.

Wow Megcur..your mothers' comment was really obnoxious... That isn't the case at all. I purchased a home on the Matawan border of Old Bridge for 650k. I pay almost 13k in taxes. We could have afforded the areas you mentioned but I was REALLY concerned about environmental factors....the way the wind blows from Staten Island, close to all those factories...no thanks. I love driving through the suburbs! Nice spacious yards, trees and grass..you can keep those areas in N. Jersey!

I also take the Acadamy bus to wall street. I park at the park & ride at inverness. This park & ride will be closer to browntown. take 516 to route 9 south make the u-turn at Ferry road and the parking lot is a few feet on the north side. the buses come pretty frequently. going home you would get the bus at the first stop on greenwich street & morris. You can buy a monthly pass for $245 or by a 10 trip tickets for $75. Good luck.

Things are a little different now a days megcur. Plenty of people who live over the 'shore bridge'(???) could afford to live in Essex/Bergen/Union. Some of us enjoy living near the shore year round rather than just going 'down the shore' on summer weekends.
