Hi

I'm a single mom of a 3 year old and I'm ready to relocate out of NYC. The problem is i don't know what direction I want to go. My gf wants to go to NJ and my heart is set on NC. Please help me figure this out. I don't know where in NC but i have heard a lot about Concord. I have family in Auburn and Ahoskie, But im really not familiar with every and anything that is has to do with NC. I have Family in Jersey as well but all i hear about Jersey is negative things.

Thanks in Advance for you Response

Since NC is an option, I assume that includes finding a new job as well? It is really tough to give you an answer without knowing what kind of job you would be looking for.

I live in NJ now, and lived in Raleigh, NC in the past. I enjoyed my time in Raleigh. It is much less congested and much cheaper than the NYC metro area. It has downsides too though. There is still a lot of "rural" character in the area. Many of the people I moved there with from NJ hated it. Coming from NYC, you may feel the same. I wouldn't recommend anyplace smaller than Raleigh (I'm not familiar with Concord). I can't comment on the schools in NC, as I didn't have children at the time.

If you are just looking to get out of the area completely, have you considered Austin, TX?

Edit: NJ is a nice place to live, but if you are used to living and working in Manhattan, your NJ to NYC commute will be unpleasant in comparison. The schools are generally very good, assuming you end up in a decent town.
