Hi Everyone,
My family is considering a move to NJ from Queens because my husband's commute to Weehawken is becoming a nightmare.
Can you recommend some good towns within 45 minutes of Weehawken to live where he could commute by public transportation (light rail, bus)? We started looking in North Bergen and Cliffside Park. I'm just wondering if there are other good options further out? We have 2 young children and want to consider schools. We are looking for 2-3 bedroom (strongly prefer 3) for 2K or under in a house or some place with access to a shared yard. We can find this in the areas I mentioned but I want to consider other areas as well. I realize this budget isn't that high but hopeful we can find something.
Thanks so much for any information!

Worked there for 2 years commuting from Queens and it is definitely not fun. I think the best option is take a look at the Lightrail lines unfortunately most places on the line are either really bad areas or very expensive. I try my best to avoid taking a job there. Hoboken and Edgewater area probably the best place to look.

Even from most parts of NJ, it's very hard to get into Weehawken due to the lack of highways and roads to get there.

You may want to look at Fort Lee. The NJ Transit 158 bus runs from Fort Lee to Weehawkin.

Fort Lee has good schools & is a nice, walkable town with many highrises.

You may also want to look at Edgewater, also on the 158 bus line, but much closer to Weehawkin. Edgewater has its own schools until high school than the kids go to Leonia High School (a good school.)

To look at transportation options: www.njtransit.com Try using either "trip planner" or "service near a location" function.

Also Light Rail: New Jersey Transit

Just noticed that you want a yard, not sure if you'll find that in these towns. Try Leonia.
